I really tried to make a standard, fancy post but between the endless list of shit I have to do and Mark pretty much taking over my laptop for his D&D sessions (lmao), this is the best I can do. No worries! An update is an update amirite.
First of all, Princess Luna celebrated her second birthday on 6/27. I still cannot believe she is the same little seven pound bundle we brought home two years ago. *sobs* Anyhoo. Happy birthday, Lulu! You are a constant source of light, joy, laughter, and love, even during times like now when the world seems dark. The highlight of my day is waking up to your smile in the mornings and then trying not to laugh at nights when you fight sleep so adorably. Gah! I could just get mushy for hours thinking of you! You’re such a funny, smart, beautiful, determined, independent, playful, energetic, and loving little girl. I cannot wait to see what kind of milestones and shenanigans you have in store for us this year. I love you to the moon and back! *kiss kiss* P.S. Mommy and daddy did not forget our promise! We will bring you either Lego World or the aquarium once all the madness passes. We promise!
I also celebrated a birthday too! Woop woop! I am such an old fart because literally the only thing I wanted was some Pioneer Woman pots and pans. LOL. But I got way more than I expected, and I am eternally grateful for the people in my life. Thank you everyone! It’s hard to make birthdays special during a pandemic, but you guys always find a way. T_T
But on to the biggest news…. WE HAVE A HOUSE. WUUUUUUUUUUTTT~
Yep! We closed on a house right around Luna’s birthday, and it has been SO much work. I think we spent days of our lives just looking at random places in our budget and signing paperwork. LOL. But, at last, it is a home, and… I cannot put into words how great it feels to wake up in a place that is finally a true sanctuary. The best part though is Luna and her room. She LOVES her little Minnie Mouse room. It’s really awesome that she gets to grow up in a house with her own room, and not the borderline slum apartment where we first brought her home. That is something Mark and I get teary about sometimes. We promised ourselves that Luna would never grow up in that shitty apartment and neighborhood, and now her first memories will not include that place at all. We’re just… super lucky and grateful. Anyway, I’ll do pics and allat soon. Right now… so many other things I need/want to do first.
I also started a remote job which has been mind-boggling. It is surprisingly enjoyable though despite being a customer service job. I guess it is because there is a strong possibility of promotions if you stick around and do well enough. But the company we work for… I am legally not allowed to even discuss them here, so all I can say that I’ve come to like them a lot more in recent weeks. They are totally against upselling and pushing extra products on customers. Their prime focus is making sure that the customer gets what they want, and that they get it at a price they are happy with. I even had my first interaction with a blind and deaf person because they do so much to help those with disabilities. That was a heartwarming moment for me. So… Yeah… I am hoping for great things. Of course, if a better opportunity comes along I will take it; however, I’m still grateful to have this job where I get paid decently to just help people in my pajamas. LOL
What else… Oh! I got my first platinum trophy! Woo! It would be Persona 5 Royal. LOL. I am obsessed. Anyhoo, that was a proud gaming moment for me.
And of course I played the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Feels like EONS ago. Anyway, I enjoyed it for the most part. The liberties they are taking with the plot are… interesting… but I will avoid getting worried until some of my theories are either confirmed or put to bed. Overall, though, I love the characters even more in this remake. The battle system was fun, Masashi brought more magic to an already magical soundtrack, and it was just a pleasant experience overall. 8 out of 10.
I am also back into FFXIV. I really missed my dragoon queeeeen. I feel like I’m coming close to the end of Heavensward so that’s cool. Also, these duties are KILLING me because there are so many DPS players (and sometimes healers) who keep running ahead of the tank and drawing aggro instead of making the tank do their fucking job in peace and it’s just… ARGH. SUPPORT CLASSES NEED TO SUPPORT. *deep breath* Otherwise, pretty fun. And the music is amaziiiiing.
Oh yeah… I got banned from PSN for a day. Lmao. Basically, I purchased the Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansions for cheap (it was like $30 for both), and PayPal decided to charge me twice for it. I asked them to remove ONE charge and they removed BOTH, so Playstation was like, “You’re in Sony debt. Bye.” I had to buy a PSN gift card and do all this other shit just to get my account restored. But I guess that’s a new gaming achievement for me. Getting the banhammer for like… 12 hours. Hey, at least I didn’t get banned for being a dickswab or anything though. So, that’s good.
After much peer pressure, I finally watched and caught up to everything in My Hero Academia. It’s basically anime X-Men. Which is cool. I’m also trying to go through my long list of animes to watch, so I started on Bakuman and Prince of Tennis since those have been on my list since like… freaking high school. Bakuman is decent but it’s moving too slow for me, so I might just read a synopsis to see how that goes. As for Prince of Tennis, it feels like a quintessential sports anime which I don’t mind. I love sports anime. I already know when everyone graduates I’m going to cry because in sports anime graduation is like… death. Lol. Everyone splits up and can’t play together anymore, so it sucks. Anyway, that’s where I am.
Manga wise, I’ve just been waiting on Berserk per usual. The recent chapter was okay. It looks like Guts is going to get new armor or at least some upgrades. I also like how Guts and the Skull Knight are like bros now, and take little jabs at one another. Good to see our favorite irate struggler making new friends.
I’ve been watching TV shows and movies here and there. We binge watched The Watchmen series which was… an absolute gift. So was Hamilton. Then again, I love musicals so I’m not surprised that I ended up loving Hamilton enough to start listening to songs outside the show. Uh… Palm Springs was interesting. We binge watched a K-drama called “Itaewon Class” and we got super into it. It’s an awesome show with a lot of laughs and teary-eyed moments. That’s pretty much been it, I think.
(IMPORTANT EDIT) THAT SUN WU KONG GAME TRAILER !!!!!!!!! THANK YOU, BLACK MYTH: WU KONG, FOR MY LIFE. THANK YOU, JOURNEY TO THE WEST GODS, FOR HEARING MY CRIES AND BLESSING MY EYES WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL GAME. I AM NOT WORTHY. AAAAAA
And now to get serious for a second. *backflips on to soapbox*
I was going to write an entire novella about how numbing it is to be black in a country that is needlessly vicious towards me and my loved ones on a daily basis, and how infuriating it is to be raising a child during a plague with an administration that trolls scientists and experts on twitter while they hide from this pandemic in their golden, ivory towers but… honestly, what can I say that professional journalists and bloggers with actual talent have not expressed thousands of times already. All I can do is encourage everyone to please vote. No one is saying that another administration will lead to utopia and perfection, but if you feel even a hint of fury about the actions of government these past four years then make an effort to vote out the representatives who are indifferent to your well-being and vote in people who are at least not sociopaths. In the end, this is not about parties and whatever bullshit political affiliations are out there. This is about putting someone in the oval office who understands the importance of teamwork, empathy, and patience as a leader. We need someone who is willing to accept that not everyone will want to be his best friend, and put ego aside so he can work with all types of people–such as scientists, pandemic experts, overseas allies, and law enforcement–to come to a solution to the pile of problems we have. At the end of the day, we all need a society where we can buy grocery without being afraid for our lives. And if you disagree with that then you are just a lunatic. Period. Everyone else, though, prefers not to get a fatal virus or shot while picking up dinner, so… yeah… let’s go vote. And at the very least if 2020 continues to be the equivalent of stepping on legos with bare feet then you can say that you tried. Much like wearing masks, we can all tolerate a little inconvenience and time for the greater good.
Okay, I gotta stop here. Got boring adult things to do. Lol. Anyway, please stay safe out there and let’s keep fighting!
